When I was first elected, Jack Layton told me that his bill to fight climate change was one of the most important things he would do in his career. MPs passed Jack’s bill in 2010, but unelected Conservative senators struck it down. It was the first time in 75 years the Senate defeated legislation passed by elected representatives. Jack never got to see his climate change bill make it into law. But the fight isn’t over. Tom Mulcair and our NDP team have introduced a new Climate Change Accountability Act, and now we’re taking it to communities across the country. On July 19th, Canadians are participating in a Day of Action in support of Tom Mulcair and the NDP’s plan to finish what Jack started. Will you be there? Click here to find an event near you. Successive Conservative and Liberal governments have failed to take action on climate change for years. New Democrats have always been leaders in this fight. We believe in a balanced approach to save time, money, jobs and the environment. We must address the impacts of climate change – it's one of the most important issues of our time. This is the first step. Join us on July 19th and spread the word in your community. RSVP now: www.ndp.ca/finish-what-jack-startedThanks, Megan
