Hoyer Statement on White House Maker Faire WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after President Obama hosted the first-ever White House Maker Faire: “Today’s first-ever White House Maker Faire and the announcement that federal agencies will be partnering with private companies to support innovators and entrepreneurs is a further demonstration of this Administration’s serious commitment to helping more businesses and workers Make It In America. Along with yesterday’s executive actions making new resources available to innovators, these partnerships will help our country maintain its global leadership in research and development by empowering individuals who want to learn the skills necessary to commercialize their ideas into the next groundbreaking products. “I am proud to be leading the effort to pass Make It In America legislation in Congress so that we can keep our economy competitive by promoting science, technology, engineering, and math – or ‘STEM’ – education and encouraging research and innovation here in the US. I hope Democrats and Republicans can work together to build on the Administration’s steps this week by passing Make It In America bills this summer.” Visit www.democraticwhip.gov/ for more press, floor and member resources.
