LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Secretary of State John Kerry met Wednesday in London with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in an attempt to restart Middle East peace talks, Negotiations fell apart last month amid continued building of West Bank settlements by the Israelis and the forming of an interim Palestian government that includes Hamas, which is dedicated to Israel's destruction. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki was quoted by the Associated Press as saying that Kerry "made clear that while the door remains open to peace, it is up to the parties to determine whether they are willing to take the steps necessary to resume negotiations,"
