DoD Announces Recruiting and Retention Numbers For Fiscal Year 2014, Through January 2014
The Department of Defense announced today recruiting and retention statistics for the active and reserve components for fiscal 2014, through January 2014.
• Active Component.
• Recruiting. All four active services met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal 2014, through January.
• Army – 17,002 accessions, with a goal of 16,720; 102 percent
• Navy – 10,116 accessions, with a goal of 10,116; 100 percent
• Marine Corps – 7,173 accessions, with a goal of 7,162; 100 percent
• Air Force – 8,726 accessions, with a goal of 8,726; 100 percent
• Retention. The Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps exhibited strong retention numbers for the fourth month of fiscal 2014.
• Reserve Component.
o Recruiting. Five of the six reserve components met or exceeded their fiscal-year-to-date 2014 numerical accession goals.
• Army National Guard – 16,663 accessions, with a goal of 16,596; 100 percent
• Army Reserve – 8,459 accessions, with a goal of 9,341; 91 percent
• Navy Reserve – 1,359 accessions, with a goal of 1,359; 100 percent
• Marine Corps Reserve – 2,753 accessions, with a goal of 2,677; 103 percent
• Air National Guard – 3,173 accessions, with a goal of 3,173; 100 percent
• Air Force Reserve – 2,057 accessions, with a goal of 1,824; 113 percent
• Attrition – All reserve components have met their attrition goals or were within the allowed variance. Current trends are expected to continue. (This indicator lags due to data availability.)
