WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The Senate voted Wednesday to confirm Federal Reserve Gov. Sarah Bloom Raskin to the No. 2 spot at the Treasury Department. Bloom Raskin will succeed Neal Wolin and will be the highest ranking woman ever to serve at Treasury. She was confirmed by voice vote. Her departure creates a third vacancy on the seven-member Fed board. The Senate Banking Committee is holding a hearing Thursday on President Barack Obama's nominations to fill two of those vacancies with Stanley Fischer, the former governor of Israel's central bank and former Obama Treasury official Lael Brainard. Obama has also nominated Fed Gov. Jerome Powell for a second term. Market Pulse Stories are Rapid-fire, short news bursts on stocks and markets as they move.
