Ex. Virginia Gov. McDonnell (R-VA) charged in gifts case
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Former Virginia Gov. Robert McDonnell and his wife Maureen were charged in federal court Tuesday with illegally accepting gifts and large loans from a wealthy Richmond-area businessman who sought special treatment from state government, the Washington Post is reporting. McDonnell, a Republican, and his wife were charged in connection with their relationship to dietary supplement executive Jonnie Williams. McDonnell's term as governor ended Jan. 11.
