Readout of Secretary Hagel's meeting with Republic of Korea President Park Geun-Hye Pentagon Press Secretary George Little provided the following readout: This evening Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel met with Republic of Korea President Park Geun-Hye prior to an event at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery to mark the 60th Anniversary of the U.S.-Republic of Korea alliance. President Park and Secretary Hagel discussed ways to strengthen and enhance the close partnership between our two countries and our two militaries, including our shared efforts to counter the missile threat posed by North Korea. Secretary Hagel commended the close coordination and interoperability demonstrated by both militaries during this year's Foal Eagle Exercise. Secretary Hagel affirmed that the Department of Defense will continue to remain vigilant to further provocation from North Korea and affirmed that the full range of alliance capabilities remain ready for any contingency.
