Former Iceland premier found guilty of negligence from MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) -- Former Iceland Prime Minister Geir Haarde was found guilty Monday on a count of negligence ahead of the country's 2008 banking collapse and ensuing financial meltdown, news reports said. A special court found Haarde guilty of failing to hold dedicated cabinet meetings ahead of the crisis, the Financial Times reported, but cleared him of three more serious charges that could have carried a two-year jail sentence. Haarde will face no punishment, CNN reported, citing a court official.
