On Wednesday, August 3, we hosted an Army roundtable with Maj. Gen. Thomas Richardson, J4 director, U.S. Forces- Iraq. He answered questions about the current situation in Iraq regarding U.S. Forces-Iraq's role as they begin reposturing forces in Iraq. Approximately one million pieces of U.S. Government-owned equipment still remains in Iraq. Where will all of it go? September 1, 2010 marked the beginning of Operation New Dawn and the next chapter of the military mission in Iraq. Many of our shared goals are within reach, but there is still important work to be done. Through the actions of our military, we will demonstrate our nation's long-term commitment to the Iraqi people and set the conditions for an enduring strategic partnership with a sovereign, stable, self-reliant and unified Iraq. Types of Equipment in Iraq: ¡ö Unit Organizational Property ¨C property that belongs to a U.S. Forces unit that is maintained on a daily basis at home station and on deployment. ¡ö Theater Provided Equipment ¨C equipment unique to the "theater of operations" ¨C Iraq in this case. This equipment is provided to deployed units upon their arrival. The type of equipment issued depends on the unit's mission in Iraq. ¡ö Contractor Managed/Government Owned Equipment- equipment purchased with U.S. government funds for use in the execution of contractor missions in support of the U.S. government. Find out more about these topics and learn about the disposition of USF-I's equipment. For more information about our troops in Iraq, check out www.usf-iraq.com or www.facebook.com/usforcesiraq.
