House passes tax-cut extension Senate is unlikely to take up
The House of Representatives voted Friday to permanently extend the lower tax rates enacted by last year's law. While the legislation cleared the House in a 220 to 191 vote, it is not expected to pass the Senate, where it would need 60 votes to advance and Republicans control 51 seats.
