U.S. adds 178,000 private-sector jobs in May as April's numbers revised lower, ADP says
The U.S. added 178,000 private-sector jobs in May, according to ADP. The April total of jobs added was revised down from 204,000 to 163,000. "The hot job market has cooled slightly as the labor market continues to tighten," said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute. The figures come in advance of Friday's report from the Labor Department, which economists polled by MarketWatch expect 198,000 jobs, in both the private and public sector, to have been added.
