Hoyer: Republicans Are Injecting Uncertainty, Instability into Insurance Markets
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the Trump Administration and House Republicans' request to delay the House Republicans' cost-sharing reductions lawsuit:
“Today’s decision by President Trump and House Republicans to prolong the partisan legal battle over cost-sharing reduction payments injects even more uncertainty and instability into insurance markets at a pivotal time. Republicans’ ongoing sabotage of the Affordable Care Act will inevitably lead to increased premiums and insurers exiting markets, severely limiting access to affordable coverage options.
“Republicans and President Trump must stop using Americans’ health care as a political bludgeon. If they truly wish to improve health care access and affordability, they ought to work with Democrats to strengthen the Affordable Care Act. Instead, they seem determined to repeal health care reforms at any cost, even if those costs would be borne by Americans, whose lives and health would be endangered.”
